Late Bloomers

Look at these berries! "Late bloomers" people might call them. But who is to say what's a late bloomer and what isn't? Instead of looking at it individually, it's really important to consider the environment it is growing in. Without the right conditions, a berry, a plant, a human being, can't fully bloom. It needs healthy soil, a good foundation in order to be able to spread its roots and reach further, higher and become stronger.

As a person, I would consider myself more of a late bloomer as well. I've always been labelled as being too sensitive and as a young kid I never conceded to peer pressure. I have felt weird and outside of the circle for most of my life and I have, at times, felt some shame around that. But feeling weird isn't necessarily a bad thing and being on the outside can have great advantages. Your surroundings already know you won't conform to certain standards, so in a way, it allows you to be more free. Really owning your weirdness can give you the steady foundation you need from which you can grow. It's an ongoing process, to rid yourself of expectations of others and it takes time. So whether that makes you a late bloomer or not, at least you have the power to decide on whose terms you're growing. Creating the environment that makes you thrive, unapologetically, will not only help yourself grow but others too. You'll create connections deeper than you've ever imagined and as a result you won't feel so left out anymore.
Now have a look at those wonderful berries!
