Yellow Larch Tree
Did you know some conifers also lose their needles in autumn? They are called larches. I only found out about them three years ago.
What a sight! To stand out between all those green pines and spruces, with their needles turning yellow and falling off! That's what I like about nature. We always try to generalize and compartmentalize the world through rules and measurements, but then you have this tree that doesn't follow the rule and is thus called "the exception" to it.
I get that compartmentalising makes our understanding of the world a bit easier to grasp, but in truth the world ís messy and chaotic and beautiful all at once. It was not meant to be strictly put in these boxes. Being different, or "other than", does not make them any less valid or worthy. On the contrary; by including all species, aside from rules, we are getting the whole colourful picture of nature with all its interesting parts as a whole.
Diversity is necessary and encouraging it instead of excluding it is key to the survival and thriving of all plants and species.
