The Advent Christmas Balls Calendar

So, about 5 years ago my mental health took a deep dive and it took me a while to get back on my feet. But, about one and a half year ago, something sparked an old feeling of a positive sense of myself again. A feeling of aeriness in which I could create without purpose, with its meaning only valuable to me. This feeling came to me when I started knitting again. To have that familiar space in which my hands knew exactly what they were doing and I'd just have to take it one stitch at time. What I was creating didn't even matter, but I couldn't help to feel some sort of excitement. Whatever I was creating, if I thought it mattered, it would and it did.

Now, one year and a half later my dear twinsister surprised me with a wonderful present to spark that silly and oh so important part of myself again. She bought me "The Advent Christmas Balls Calendar" created by Arne and Carlos! As of December first I've been spending my evenings knitting the designs from the calendar and some that my sister created herself. How important it is to be able to gift silly things with meaning, to let creations make you feel whole and tiny all at once. Every time you create something without the purpose of it becoming anything to anyone, know that in some way you are connecting to the tiny dreamer in you and the tiny dreamer in all of us.
Being silly is important to remind ourselves how silly we all are and how silly life is. YAY for silliness!
